Arista, Special Computing and InduSoft Partner Bringing to Market the First Windows® CE 5.0 Industrial Panel Computer, the HMI Express Pro

The HMI Express Pro powered with Windows CE 5.0 and InduSoft Web Studio makes the panel computer ideal for industrial automation applications.

FREMONT, CA – December 20, 2004 – Arista Corporation, a leading industrial computer solutions provider and system integrator with Special Computing and InduSoft, have brought to the industrial automation market the first panel computer powered by Windows® CE 5.0 and InduSoft’s Web Studio, creating the HMI Express Pro series of panel computers.  Arista’s HMI-Express Pro with Indusoft CEView is a complete supervisory control, process monitoring and operator interface, running on the Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 operating system platform. It is based on InduSoft's full scale Windows-based supervisory control and monitoring system and has a  rich set of features including an object-oriented database, math functions, report generation, archiving, alarms, batch recipes, and interfaces for PLCs, remote I/O and TCP/IP networking. The HMI-Express Pro with Indusoft CEView running on Windows CE 5.0, enables complete control and monitoring from anywhere outside the plant through any connection to the Internet.

HMI-Express Pro has optional drag and drop, point and click automation development tools to develop modern Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) applications. Applications include embedded machine or process controls, servo drives, control panels, man-machine interfaces, SCADA and wireless SCADA, data collection, maintenance terminals, PLC interface panels, control panels, machine parameter adjustment, mobile process supervision and many others. The HMI EXPRESS Pro is ideally used in embedded systems, mobile monitoring tools, and for instrumentation and laboratory automation applications.

The HMI Express Pro includes both screenless, brick sized mountable node and industrial panel computers with 6.4, 8.4, 10.4, 12.1 and 15-inch LCD displays.  The HMI Express Pro family uses a 300 MHz National Semiconductor Geode processor which provides the ability to run any application.  The panel computers also come standard with two RS-232 and one RS-232/RS-485 serial ports.  The secure screw-in power supply connector ensures that the unit will not come unplugged, even if mounted upside down or in an area of high vibration.  The low power requirements and voltages (5 and 12 DC) simplify hazardous area compliance.

“This new technology, combining Windows CE 5.0 and InduSoft’s Web Studio into a compact panel computer designed, provides our clients with new cutting edge technology for their industrial automation needs,” said Stewart Austin, director of sales for Arista Corporation.  “The HMI Express Pro series also comes in a variety of panel sizes providing our clients additional options when considering our computers for their applications.”
